Exploring Canada’s National Parks & Historic Sites!

Our time in New Brunswick was short, but really memorable.

Back in Quebec, we decided to purchase a Discovery Pass, and I’m really glad we did. The Discovery Pass grants you entry to all of Canada’s National Parks and several historic sites, so it’s totally worth it if you plan on visiting more than 2 or 3 of these places in a year. The pass is for 12 months, so it’ll last us until next year, which is great.

Quebec, NB, and learning history!

Wednesday, September 5th, 2018

I incorrectly said in a previous post that we had spent the evening of Tuesday, September 4th, 2018 in Percé. We actually spent that night in Riviére-au-Renard. After a lovely sleep with a gorgeous free view, we headed out to Forillon National Park.

Beautiful Quebec: pine trees, mountains, and the majestic St. Lawrence

Visiting beautiful Quebec, and (sort of) learning a little French

Quebec is a truly beautiful province. But I’m being reminded of just how little French I know while travelling here. I do know enough to get by. I can say:

The Brockville Tunnel & More: Adventure Day 1 :)

We moved out of our house officially on August 21st, and stayed at United Empire Loyalist Campground for a few days. The campground is all right, but the swimming isn’t great. The water is pretty “swampy,” and M-girl got a leech on her foot. Initially we thought it was a tick, so we used a pair of tweezers to get it out, only to realize it was actually a leech. Well, no real harm done. The campground was quite large, and there were 3 playgrounds of different sizes. We had a campfire one night and the kids enjoyed that.

Family RV Adventure Announcement!

Anyone who’s known me for more than about 5 minutes knows that I’m not a homebody. Travelling is my thing, and being in the same house for the last 8 years is starting to feel a little… suffocating. Who am I kidding? It’s felt that way for the last 5 or so years. If you’ve met my family, you know that family adventure travel is also our thing. And though we had a blast on our bicycles in 2016, our next adventure will be a Family RV Adventure! And a BIG one, too 🙂

RVing with kids: Our First Weekend!

RVing with kids: our very first weekend!

So, after getting our hands on an awesome 32′ RV for an incredibly good price, we summerized it with the help of the previous owner, packed a few things, and headed out on our first micro-adventure. We decided to stay close to home for our first weekend out in the RV, and headed to the Mallorytown KOA, just under an hour away from Kingston, Ontario, where we currently live.

RVing: How We Got an Awesome RV

RVing was not on our bucket list, and bringing my whole house with me on the road wasn’t something I’d given much thought to.

But… life brought us a lovely opportunity at a price we couldn’t turn down. I’m pretty hooked on cycle touring, but there’s no denying that you can cover a lot more ground in an RV. Plus, you can always just take the bikes with you on the RV, too!
