Homeschooling

There are many ways to educate a child. Some parents choose to send their children to public schools, others to private schools. Some choose to homeschool, some choose to unschool.

There are advantages and disadvantages to each type of education system, and each family needs to choose what is right for them.

Long before Dan and I had children, we already knew we’d like to homeschool them. We have many reasons for choosing this, and we’ll share those reasons with you in a future post.

We are fortunate in Ontario in that the Education Act protects our parental right to choose how to educate our children. We take full advantage of this by choosing to homeschool in the way we feel is best suited to each child. In our experience, this is a wonderful way to educate and to be able to spend our days as a family. Make no mistake: if you choose to homeschool, you will encounter negativity, sometimes from the people who should support you the most. But if you know in your heart that this is the right choice for your family, you’ll need to pay those people no mind – you choose what is best for your family. That is your right.

I’ve added this page so we can share our homeschooling experience with you, share resources, and more. If you have any questions about homeschooling and how we do it, feel free to ask 🙂
