Children’s Nonfiction Books We Read During COVID-19

Children’s Non-Fiction Books We Borrowed during COVID-19

We borrowed so many library materials during the pandemic that I felt the need to break our materials review into several post. If you missed the first post all about the children’s picture books we borrowed, you’ll find that here. This post is all about the children’s nonfiction books we borrowed. Here’s what we read and what I thought

of it. Continue reading “Children’s Nonfiction Books We Read During COVID-19”

Why You Should Visit a Library During Your RV Trip

Visiting Libraries During Your RV Adventure

If you’ve been following this blog or my Instagram account for a while, you probably already know that my family and I are library lovers. There are so many awesome reasons to visit a library… to read of course, but there’s more. Here are some of the reasons we loved visiting libraries during our RV adventure:

A Happy Birthday and a Sad Door

We stayed at Indiana Dunes State Park for G-boy’s birthday, and committed not to drive too far on his special day, which we started by opening gifts. The girls got to open a small gift also. They were happy that one of G-boy’s birthday gifts was Lego, because in our house, Lego is a shared toy, so if one of the kids gets it, they know they’ll all get to play with it regularly.

Mark Twain Boyhood Home & Museum

Blast from the past at the Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum

When I was a teenager, I didn’t get out much. I had to work to help at home, and as such, I moved between my house, school, work, a couple of after-school activities, and not much else. But there were some cool outings once in a while. One of these outings from my teenage years that I’ll never forget was a field trip to Hannibal, Missouri, where the high school juniors got to see Mark Twain’s Boyhood Home and Museum (and more).

Winnipeg, Manitoba: Libraries & New Old Friends

After leaving Regina, we drove towards Winnipeg, Manitoba, to visit some friends. But first, we (of course) had to stop at a library, so I could get some freelancing work done and so the kids could have a nice break from driving while they read books and played.

Regina, Saskatchewan with Kids (and Moose Jaw, too!)

After finishing up our time in Alberta (and thankfully recovering from the awful bug that went through the RV), we headed towards Regina, Saskatchwean, with a stop in Moose Jaw to break up the drive a bit. Dan seemed to have escaped the virus for the time being.

Tepees and Butterflies in Medicine Hat, Alberta

After visiting Calgary and Dinosaur Provincial Park, we stopped briefly in Brooks, Alberta, prior to moving on to Medicine Hat, a city whose name I’ve always wondered about. We didn’t know much about this town prior to visiting it, but it turns out there are some really neat things to do here, and we do recommend a visit, if not for the tourist attractions, at least for its beautifully sunny skies.

Libraries galore from Idaho to Alberta

Catching up after a break

You may have noticed the distinct lack of posts for the last week and a bit. After finishing my Mind Maps for Freelance Success book, I took a mini vacation of sorts. I didn’t have any articles due this past week, so I turned off the early alarm, slept in, and enjoyed our visits with friends and family (details to follow in the next post). I’m now back at work until we return home, at which point I’ll be taking a break from freelancing, most unfortunately. But there’s a time for everything, I guess.

Of Spiders & Lizards in SoCal

We’re really enjoying it here at Sweetwater Summit Regional Park, and want to stay an extra night. So I call the gate and ask if there are any sites available. The ranger says there is one left, but I’ll have to come to the gate to register for it, because there are too many cars coming in and he can’t be on the phone. I say OK.
