Gingerbread Houses and Snuggles on Couches

Today was a great day.

We procrastinated (as usual) on getting our Christmas photos done, but we have a great photographer who turns in photos within a week of taking them, so we’ll still get them before Christmas. We started the day by getting ready for picture day, and I’m really excited to get the photos back later in the week. The kids looked so cute in their pretty outfits, and I even wore heels and make-up.

Friends and Babysitters – there’s a lot to be thankful for!

All the nice things!

I’ve made a commitment to write “all the nice things” that happen each day of 2017. I figured, why wait? So here I am, writing about the nice things that happened on Friday, December 16th, 2017.

Yesterday, my neighbour’s daughter returned from her first semester at university in North Carolina. She’s a talented golfer and she’s adjusting well to being a student athlete at the post-secondary level. It’s so weird… we met her when she was 10, and now she’s at university. How time flies. She used to babysit for us casually, and she contacted us before coming home to ask if she could babysit the kids again, because she missed them. I thought that was really sweet.

Mermaids, Frozen Queens and Mad Skills

So I’ve made a commitment to write down at least one nice thing for every day of 2017. But I figured, why wait? Writing down all the nice things that happen each day is such a great way for a mood boost, and at the end of the year, I’ll have a wonderful list to bring me happy memories. So here are the nice things that happened this past week!

Taking K-girl to see The Little Mermaid on stage.

In 1989, my grandma (Vó Sylvia, my mom’s mom) took me to the movie theatre for the very first time. We watched “The Little Mermaid,” and I cried at the end. I was 7 then, and The Little Mermaid is still my favourite Disney movie (it’s sort of tied with Monster’s Inc, though, and I do love Frozen. But Ariel and her love for all things human will always have a special place in my heart).

In December of 2016, I had the opportunity to take my almost 7-year-old daughter, K-girl, to see a play at a local high school (Regiopolis Notre-Dame). The play was so good, I almost cried at the end. I got to meet “Ariel” after the play was over, and I told her how special this outing was. “Ariel” (Emma Battel) smiled and said “that’s so special.” Yes it was 🙂

M-girl loves to sing “Let it ‘doh'” from Frozen (with all the actions) but she also loves to hear me sing it.

M-girl, who’s 2, loves to sing “Let it go.” She can’t say her g’s and they all sound like “ds,” so it ends up sounding like “doh” instead of “go.” She asks me to sing it all the time, and she keeps asking me to sing it again when I’m done. I love singing, and having my little girl asking me to do it is super special.

My writing and editing career is taking off

My editing and writing services are taking off.I started writing for fun a the beginning of this year, and I can’ wait to see where this business goes next. I’ve got a beginner’s writing course in the works, and I’m looking forward to moving forward with my career. It’s wonderful to be able to be home with my kids while also pursuing my passion.

I visited Brazil

I visited my family this year, after 5 years of being unable to do so. I will always cherish this visit, and the fact that I was able to pay my way there with income earned from my writing.

K-girl has some mad jump rope skills

December 12th, 2016 was K-girl’second jump rope show. She’s been taking jump rope lessons and she’s got some mad skills! She can do backwards jumping, cross overs, one-legged, pretzel, and more stuff that I don’t even know the name for. I’m especially impressed since I only learned how to jump rope properly about 2 years ago. Up until then, I could only jump one foot at a time.

That’s it for now (at lest that’s what I remember). I’ll be writing more soon, and I can’t wait to review “all the nice things” at the end of the year.

Until then, keep living life on your terms.
